Caring for our planet and people – today and tomorrow
At Beckers brand, we’ve always believed that paint can do more than just add color. It ignites joy, fuels our passion projects, protects and beautifies environments, and changes how we feel about our homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods.
Sustainable all the way
Did you know that Beckers was the first Swedish paint manufacturer to have products eco-labeled with the Nordic Ecolabel? Our sustainability work is important to us and we constantly strive to understand how we can become even better. In 2011, we set a goal in Sweden to reduce our climate impact from production and distribution to Scandinavia by 50% by the year 2020. After meeting that goal, we are now fully focused on reducing it by another 50% by 2027.
Eco-labels
Development and innovation
We introduced our first waterborne product back in 1951. Today, 99% of our products are waterborne, which means there is a waterborne Beckers product for almost every surface. Water is kinder to both health and the environment than white spirit, which is the most common solvent for paint after water.
Mass Balance
In 2021, we released our first products based on the so-called Mass Balance principle. The principle allows the transition from fossil materials to bio-based to be made faster. When Beckers choose bio-based components according to the Mass Balance principle, suppliers' purchases are redirected to more bio-based starting materials. When Beckers' customers in turn choose these products, the development towards more bio-based raw materials is driven forward.
Paint should have a big impact on spaces – but not on the planet.
For us, sustainability means creating products that last while protecting the world around us. We focus on making paints that perform beautifully without compromising the environment or the safety of those who use them. We’re proud to have been one of the first paint companies to offer eco-labelled products, and our commitment has only grown stronger.
Reducing our carbon footprint
Today in Sweden, 99% of our paints are water-based, and we’re continuously working on new solutions to reduce our carbon footprint even further. At Beckers, we’re not just making paint, we’re making choices that shape a better future.
